If you’re planning a breathtaking Texas wedding, first of all, congratulations! There’s nothing as exciting as a wedding, and particularly one in our gorgeous home state. Whether you’re getting married in a country vineyard or riverfront, there’s no shortage of stunning architecture for a wedding. But of course, with the beauty comes the heat. Let’s be real, finding the perfect wedding dress for a warm wedding can feel tricky! You want to stay cool and comfy, but you also want to feel your most stunning.

That’s where we come in - our expert stylists are experienced in helping brides find the perfect dress for their Texas wedding! Here’s a guide to choosing your wedding bridal gown that will keep you comfortable and gorgeous all day long:

Fabrics to Consider

For wedding dress fabrics, the only thing you really want to avoid is anything heavy or overly structured, like velvet, mikado, or a heavy satin. Let’s cover some of the most popular fabrics to look for!

Chiffon
Ah, chiffon - flowy, lightweight, airy, and perfect for weddings with a summer breeze. It’s great for Texas weddings because its breathable nature provides comfort in the heat, while its flowy quality provides a dreamy aesthetic that’s great for romantic, outdoor styles.

Tulle
Tulle is another fabulous lightweight option that adds extra volume to your look without adding weight, which adds a bit of whimsy to any wedding dress. It provides a breathability for warmer climates and adds a touch of romance in a fairytale way.

Crepe
Crepe is another excellent choice for a warm wedding, offering a lightweight effect while also feeling a bit more elevated in nature due to its matte finish. It has a great drape, which offers a chic alternative to a fluffier fabric. It’s perfect for brides who want to feel comfortable in the heat but are leaning toward a minimalist aesthetic.

Organza
Similarly to crepe, organza is another great option for brides craving structure and volume without the heaviness of other fabrics. It’s lightweight enough to keep you comfortable but structured enough to keep your look refined and elegant, whether in an A-line wedding dress or an organza fit and flare. The options are endless!

Design Tips

Fabric isn’t the only element to consider - you’ll want to pick a silhouette and neckline that suit the weather, too!

As far as necklines go, you can’t go wrong with either a strapless, off the shoulder, v-neckline, or sweetheart neckline to help keep you cool. If you like a little sleeve option, consider spaghetti straps or flutter sleeves to give some extra oomph to the look without long sleeves. Prefer more coverage? Consider a detachable bolero or shrug that can be removed at any point.

For silhouettes, anything like an a-line or sheath is a great option because they’re less restrictive and allow for better airflow than something like a mermaid style. Anything flowy is going to be your best friend! And always consider a gown with a slit - that will help bring a little airflow to the situation every time.
